WHAT IS BOULDERING?
Bouldering is a form of rock climbing. Bouldering routes don’t get very high off the ground, so you don’t need a rope or harness. Our tallest routes are fifteen feet tall. The entire floor of our gym is draped with a giant, squishy pad. Bouldering routes are called “problems" because they present a physical challenge that need a solution in order to be climbed. Each problem consists of a series of intentionally-placed holds which you climb from start to finish. Problems can be quite easy or extremely difficult. Think of a Rubix Cube that requires your entire body to solve. Bouldering is addicting.
DO I NEED ANY SPECIAL EQUIPMENT?
All you need to boulder is a pair of climbing shoes and a chalk bag (to keep your hands from getting greasy). Bring your own shoes and chalk bag or rent them from us. We do not allow street shoes or bare foot climbing on the boulders.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

DO I NEED TO MAKE A RESERVATION?
You sure don’t. Come climb anytime we are open. But, if you are bringing a bus full of humans, you might want to coordinate with us so we can prepare accordingly.
WHO NEEDS TO SIGN A WAIVER?
Every single person. Even if you aren’t climbing. Minors must have a fully-completed waiver, signed only by a parent or legal guardian. No one else can complete a waiver on behalf of a minor.
Do you host events?
Yes, we host events. We can host birthdays, classes, mom’s groups, game nights, etc. If you want to host people at Wooden Mountain, please contact email@example.com
WHO CAN BOULDER?
Bouldering is the most accessible form of climbing. You don’t need to have any previous experience, but it does challenge the physique. If you practice other sports, bouldering should be a friendly learning curve. A bunch of people would agree bouldering is easier to pick up than skiing or snowboarding, and it’s way easier than underwater python wrestling.
I know absolutely nothing about climbing . . .

When you come, our friendly and knowledgeable Hospitality Operatives will take care of you. Everyone, regardless of skill/experience will go through a brief orientation of the gym, our walls, how we recommend to climb, and what you need to do in order to have a good time and stay safe. Plus, our Hospitality Operatives are glad to answer any questions that they can and introduce you to other folks enjoying the gym.
Our goal is for you to have the best time possible in the gym we cherish, doing something that we love, with the people we love even more. We’d be stoked to have you join us.
IS THERE A MINIMUM CLIMBING AGE?
We don’t have a minimum age for climbing—we have Youth Programs for kids as young as 4. If they can walk, they can probably climb.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Think neon latex. Seriously, just wear comfortable, agile clothes. Bring your usual athletic garments. No matter what era of athletic gear you represent, we do ask that everybody wears a shirt or tank top.

I’ve got kids, what do I need to know?
Yes. Rock climbing can be dangerous. Highly-attentive adult supervision is crucial for the safety of youth and others.
Kids are highly encouraged to climb, however, due to the inherent risk of climbing, certain limitations and policies will apply while enjoying the facilities at Wooden Mountain.
Do not run, tackle, wrestle, or instigate a wild rumpus
Do not walk under another climber’s fall zone
Do not climb over or cross routes with a climber who is already on the wall
Ask permission to spot a climber and use proper spotting technique
Only climbing shoes are allowed on our climbing walls
Please keep water bottles, cell phones, chalk bags, kittens, and any other personal belongings off of the pads
Adults are expected to look after minors that are climbing in the gym and are responsible for helping their children climb safely. Adult will complete the customer orientation and waiver which will include proper etiquette, spotting practices, safe falling practices, and general safety guidelines that Wooden Mountain has to help ensure a safe and fun climbing experience. WM Staff will be available at any time to answer questions and offer help to the parent/guardians if needed.
All participants under the age of 7 must be directly supervised at all times. All participants in the gym regardless of age are encouraged to use the down climb rungs instead of jumping or dropping down to the floor. Participants under the age of 14 are not permitted to use the auto belay system without direct supervision from a parent or guardian.

We sure do. We have a designed kids wall for any one under 10 years old, and the rest of the gym is sprinkled with kid friendly climbing.
